June 2011 recap

June was busy and HOT! Holy cow I wish we had more than 2 seasons in Ontario. Chloe was so excited to ride a school bus for the first time with Ava and her class at Kinderclub. I was so glad I got to go with her. She loved the bus,riding a pony, and the ducks. Things she hated:the smell (we were recently in a public bathroom and she said it smelled like Puck's Farm) and the "tiny" man. The man in charge was a little person, and it really freaked her out and she wasn't quiet about it. Looks like we need to have a few more chats about people who are different.

The kids went to their first car show with Grandpa Mo, as is tradition every Wednesday night of the summer after family dinner. They walk around and look at their favourite cars and sit up on the electrical box and watch them drive off, then we'll sometimes go for a McFlurry afterwards.

One the highlights for sure this month was taking Chloe to see "Annie" The musical at Orangeville Theater. The movie is one of her faves of all time, but I wondered how she'd do sitting through a 2.5 hour live show that didn't even start until 8pm, but she absolutely loved every minute of it. I watched her mouth the words to the songs, and because she knew the story so well, every so often, she would lean over and tell me what was coming next like "He's going to take her to the movies soon" It was so cute. My heart was so full. I remember going to see Annie for the first time in Toronto when I was three with both my Grandmothers and loving every minute of it. She also loved the Doritos at intermission.

Wonderland with Matt and Sarah and the kiddies was a big hit, even though we got rained on, and packed it in a little earlier than they did (we went to Ikea afterwards with the tired, grumpy, kids which was a huge mistake. A good friend of ours always says Ikea is Swedish for divorce) the morning we spent there was awesome, since it was kind of chilly and calling for rain, we didn't have very many line ups at all and the kids got to go on lots of rides. We did get absolutely soaked, but we changed into jammies in the van, had a picnic and watched Tangled for the 10,000th time while we ate our lunch and it was really fun. Glad we had thought to bring spare clothes, we got rained out last year when we went too, only we weren't prepared, so it was a wet ride home.

We decided to do some work in the backyard this month too, mostly because we were having 40 plus people back there for Chlo's 3rd birthday, so Matt and the twins helped Darryl lay a patio and Darryl and his dad built a fence. Hunter and Lucas are seriously hard workers. They'd join the girls for a freezie in the shade, and then quickly announce they needed to get back to work.
